It had been clear for some time that HANABIE. (including the dot) would be heading for Europe to perform a couple of shows, thanks to announcements of performances at festivals such as Dynamo Metal Fest and Motocultor Festival. Eventually, the band revealed that it has become a European tour with several shows at festivals and some club shows. In total, the four girls have 12 European shows scheduled.

This Tokyo-based band is known for fusing Japanese pop with metalcore and electronica, although that is a very simplistic description for this group that formed in 2015. The band has been referring to their style as “Harajuku-core”, since the Harajuku street fashion is a big part of the band’s image while they also produce metalcore music, similarly, this music is also often dubbed as loud rock. They have since managed to build a well-rounded discography, including an international fanbase. Besides touring in Europe this summer, HANABIE. also has a tour planned in the United States coming autumn, partly as a support act for Galactic Empire, and partly as a headliner with Dropout Kings and Fox Lake serving as support acts.

The past few months have been quite turbulent for HANABIE. (in Japanese, the band name is written as follows: 花冷え。). The band has been allowed to sign with Sony Music’s subsidiary label Epic Records Japan and will release their first commercial release, an album titled 来世は偉人! (Raise wa Ijin!), which is also their first album in two and a half years, on 25 July. In addition, drummer Sae decided to leave the band after drumming for HANABIE. for almost three years. She was replaced in May by Chika, who initially served as a support drummer.
