Product Review: LOTTE – Crunky Milk Chocolate Bar, Pretzel & Puffs Chocolate Bar, Crunky Balls Milk Chocolate & Cookie Ball

Photographs by MuchMunchies

Crunky is a product by LOTTE, mostly recognized by the malt-puffs incorporated in chocolate. There are different chocolate bars available and a variety of other Crunky snacks as well, like Crunky Balls and Cookies. In this review you’ll find the following varieties: Milk Chocolate Bar, Pretzel & Puffs Chocolate Bar, Crunky Balls Milk Chocolate and Crunky Balls Cookie Ball.

Crunky – Milk Chocolate Bar
Price: ±€3,-

This thin chocolate bar, which weighs just 45 grams, consists of creamy milk chocolate and crunchy malt-puffs. The crunchiness of the malt-puffs combines very well with the milk chocolate. Overall this treat isn’t too sweet.

Crunky – Pretzel & Puffs Chocolate Bar
Price: ±€3,-

A twist on the original Crunky chocolate bar, filled with both malt-puffs and pretzel bits. This one has a bit of a bitter flavour to it. Although the texture is definitely different from the original, and even though it was tasty, it was hard to pinpoint the pretzel flavour specifically.

Crunky Balls – Milk Chocolate
Price: ±€3,-

Based on the milk chocolate bar, these Crunky Balls consist of a thicker layer of chocolate filled with crunchy malt-puffs. It’s a creamy, bite-sized, snack.

Crunky Balls – Cookie Ball
Price: ±€3,-

This variety is a little different, its centre consists of a cookie and the outer chocolate layer has some malt-puffs in it. The cookie, which seemed to have a malt flavour as well, and malt-puffs complement each other well, as well as the creamy chocolate layer.

Personally, I can’t say I had a favourite out of these four, they were all very tasty. I particularly loved how thin the chocolate bars were, which gave a nice balance of chocolate and malt-puffs. These delicious snacks each have their own flavour to them, but there are many more available. Be sure to try these and any other Crunky products that appeal to you, I’m sure you won’t regret it.

What flavour would you like to try?

Colourful artistic cover of TsuShiMaMiRe 20th full-length album バンドは水物 (MIZUMONO), featuring the three members at that time, vocalist and guitarist Mari, bass player Yayoi and drummer Maiko. There are masks drawn on their faces and on top of it the band name and album title in a font that seems like splashes of water.
