AnimeCon 2022: Flower Power visual

The regular edition of AnimeCon 2022 with the theme Flower Power is around the corner and that means that it is time to dive into the programme of the event that is scheduled to take place at Broodfabriek in Rijswijk from 10 to 12th of June. As you might expect from us by now, we have taken a look at the musical programming of the event. The physical event of AnimeCon couldn’t go through due to the pandemic, but luckily we were able to connect virtually with each other during the various editions of AnimeCon @ Home. Now it is time to connect in person again and enjoy the events that AnimeCon 2022 has to offer.

1. VTV World – ALLVERSE

VTV is a YouTube music programme that introduces virtual artists from Vtubers, to Vsingers and Virtual bands from the Japanese indie music scene. Since there are not many opportunities for these artists to promote their skills, VTV was established for this specific purpose. There are two sub organisations of VTV, VTV Japan for the Japanese audience and VTV World for the international audience and for this audience they have been organising special events named ALLVERSE WEEKENDS, which was kicked off at Animazement last May. For the upcoming edition of AnimeCon, 20 musical artists have been confirmed to present themselves and show what the scene has to offer and do this from within VRChat. More information about the performing artists can be found here.

For those who have attended the last edition of AnimeCon @ Home in December, might have seen a presentation of talented virtual artists performing especially for this event and might recognise some of the artists that will perform during AnimeCon 2022. VTV World will take place on two days, on Friday evening and on Sunday afternoon at Hus Room/Main Theater. The good news for those who can’t join AnimeCon is that you can watch this event on Twitch and in VRChat.

2. Shiroku

Shiroku will be returning to AnimeCon for another performance where she will present a performance filled with anime songs and Japanese pop songs, but also her original work. Since 2006 she has been giving concerts all over the world and managed to gather fans with her unique voice and cheerful dances, but also with her cosplays. She will perform for one hour on Saturday evening at Hus Room/Main Theater. More information here.

3. Pon de Beats

Originating as DJ BrainShit’s 10 year DJ anniversary party, Pon de Beats quickly grew to one of the premier European anime music parties. Inspired by Japan’s anime club scene, Anikura, you can expect from the DJs CHZK, DJ BrainShit and Shiz, that they spin your favourite songs both in their original form and in ways you’ve never heard before, remixed as EDM, House, Trance, UK Hardcore, J-Core, and many other genres. The party, of maybe better said the journey, will take place on Friday evening on the Seconday Stage and will go on into the early hours of Saturday. More information here.

4. Deshima Sounds

Deshima Sounds is a household name within the Dutch convention scene and especially a big part of AnimeCon as they started out at this event 16 years ago with an anime disco. This turned into a full-fledged dance organisation with DJs that re specialised in various heavily inspired Asian dance music. While music and styles change every year, DJs SuperEuroJimmy and Neodash Zerox have been around from the start and are always searching the charts for the hottest tracks around the EDM culture. The music styles ranges from House to Hardcore and everything in between. Especially for this edition, they are also bringing two artists from the VR community to play live at Deshima Sounds: Orin from the United States and Laser Imouto from Australia. Deshima Sounds will take place on Saturday evening at the Secondary stage. More information here.

5. Karaoke by Asgard Sings!

If you enjoy singing, this is definitely something not to be missed at AnimeCon 2022. Asgard Sings! will provide you with a wide selection of openings, golden oldies and loads of other songs to sing to. And if you are open for some challenge, it is possible to join a couple of events that Asgard Sings! will be hosting: Thor’s Voice Battle (karaoke competition) and an Anime Music Quiz. Where to find this location? Throughout the weekend, the karaoke room can be found in the room that is called Rookruimte. More information here.

It seems that AnimeCon 2022 will be a party edition in regards to music and performances, to party to make up for the lost years. Be prepared! But there is so much more to see and to do during AnimeCon 2022. From the maid cafes to a lot of Japanese food to workshops, lectures, gaming room and of course a lot of cosplay, it must feel good to be back at AnimeCon again. Want to know more? Find it all on the official website of AnimeCon.
