After Bandcamp Friday ended last December, it was unclear for a while whether Bandcamp Friday would continue in 2022. It remained quiet for a while, but finally it was announced that Bandcamp Fridays are planned to return for the months February, March, April and May. As always, Bandcamp Fridays will take place on the first Friday of the month.
In March 2020, Bandcamp started their Bandcamp Fridays where they help artists impacted by the pandemic by waiving the revenue shares to support the musicians and labels. This campaign continued until the end of 2021 and finally for a few months in 2022.
According to Bandcamp, nearly 800,000 music fans have helped out by participating in the 17 Bandcamp Fridays that have taken place. The total amount of money paid out to artists and labels currently sits at $70 million (around €62 million). On Bandcamp Fridays, an average of 93% of your money reaches the artist or label (after payment processor fees). On other days, an average of 82% reaches the artist or label.
