After a successful crowdfunding campaign, Visual Kei musician SUI was supposed to return to Paris on 11 April 2020 with his project David, to perform there for the second time and celebrate the musical project’s three-year anniversary of the Visual Kei music project, under the title Reason for existence -Europe-. Unfortunately, the concert was postponed several times to a later date. The last news was that the concert would take place on 10 April 2021, a year after the original date for the concert. It has now been announced that the concert will no longer take place.

On the website of the French tour organiser 33 Degrees, it is stated that after so many postponements of the performance, they are going to cancel the concert instead of continuing to postpone it, as they are taking into account the situation of the ongoing pandemic and with the strict restrictions in France. Those who purchased tickets for the gig can send an email to 33 Degrees to get their money back.

SUI shared a comment about the cancellation: “Thank you for your support. It has been announced that the performance in France will be cancelled. Performances abroad make David’s activities more global. I really wanted to make it happen in order to expand the possibilities of the future. Above all, it was one of the dreams I wanted to realise without losing the feeling of support I received from everyone. It’s a shame that we have to announce the cancellation. However, I have not given up on overseas performances. If the coronavirus (COVID-19) contained, my bigger dream will come true. And at that time, I will protect David so that I can enjoy it with more people in France. I hope that the situation not only in Japan but also in the world will be eased as much as possible and that we can feel at ease.”

Hopefully, it will be possible for SUI to return to France in the future, and perhaps even to several countries outside Japan. In the meantime, the musician remains actively committed to his solo project. A new album is planned for April and a new music video is expected from the musician. For now, we can enjoy a teaser of the upcoming album, Hexagramearth. The vocalist also released a collection album earlier this month with Gothculture as the story concept expressed in 2020.

The first time SUI performed in Paris with his solo project David, he was a surprise support act for KAMIJO in 2017. It wasn’t surprising that this happened, as this solo project of SUI was entirely produced by KAMIJO himself at the time. He currently releases his music through the Resonance label.
