First we need to put some confusion aside. No, we are not talking about the Visual Kei samurai rock band OROCHI. That band was reformed at the end of 2018 as a solo project with a different name, SOMEI YOSHINO. In this article, we are talking about the new metal band OROCHI that was formerly known as RagDöllz. The all-female metal band decided it was time to start anew and kicked off the second chapter of RagDöllz with a new band name, new members and a new music video.
It was a bit silent around RagDöllz, which is not strange since the pandemic interfered, then bass player Momo left the metal band in September. A month later, in October, the band mentioned the 6th anniversary of RagDöllz. Only a few days ago, the band suddenly came with the message that they are planning to share some news. Surprising enough it was not bad news, such as a disbanding, but an overhaul of the band.
After fans retweeted a tweet with the band announcement for more than 350 times in only a few days, it was time for the new metal band to share their first work as a new band, the music video and song titled HAYATE.
HAYATE is a motivating song in melody and lyrics, where Remi sings about not giving up and that we should fight together. It is a rather fitting song for the current situation, with the ongoing pandemic, but it is also a topic that is most recognisable for those who struggle in their lives. But overall, HAYATE is a song that might also fit with the band itself, the restart, the new name with new members. The band has changed, but they still produce roaring loud music. Another thing that remains the same is that Remi still does the harsh and clean vocals herself.
In the description of the new music video they stated that since 22nd of November, the band restarted the activities under the name OROCHI. They will be focusing to make a one-of-a-kind sound with the new line-up. They added: “Strong as a serpent, all-encompassing and unparalleled. With this in mind, we have named the band OROCHI.” The band members of OROCHI are vocalist Remi, guitarist Yuika, bassist Haibara and drummer Kanae.
OROCHI’s first live performance will be held at Osaka BIGCAT on Monday 22nd of February 2021. It will be interesting to see the new steps of OROCHI.
