Japanese Baseball: The mystery around the band is still big

Last summer, it feels already such a long time ago, the Japanese alternative rock band called Japanese Baseball suddenly appeared out of nowhere. As if they were pulled out of a hat, the band immediately came up with a music video and an EP. The mystery surrounding the band members, who were not clearly visible in the music video MEMENTO because only the backs of the musicians were visible, is still big.

Even though the latest music video now shows a little more of the musicians, it is still not clear who we are dealing with. Looking at the official website, you still can’t get any further than that this is an instrumental rock band from Tokyo consisting of four members.

The attempt to investigate was in the previous article only minor, it was similar to toe tipping in the water, so it did not become a deep dive. That was also impossible so far, considering at the time of writing the band had just been introduced that day.

Now we are almost half a year on. What is there to discover? After the release of their self-titled debut EP, of course, people started to talk about the band. People were curious about who the band members are, would it be an alter-ego band from another well-known band, KOTORI, or would it consist of a band with veterans from the Japanese music industry who liked to release good music with a nod to bands like American Football?

Either way, there is still not much to find out about the band. The band name doesn’t help at all, the search engines now refer to a number of websites that have published articles about the band and in other instances, it has results about Japanese baseball, the sports, but the band itself came to a standstill after the release of new music. Only a few days ago the band came back with an announcement of a concert, their very first performance, in December, and a new music video of a track titled yugure that can be found on the EP.

So who are these band members in Japanese Baseball? It could mean that the band will eventually come up with new music, shortly before their first live performance in December, where the band will give some more hints about the band members. But the first performance itself will most likely be the official moment for the fans of the band to get the introduction, unless they are going to perform with masks on. But since they showed a bit more of themselves in the latest music video, the suspicion is that the real introduction will take place during their performance in December. Anyway, the band’s instrumental rock music knows how to calm the heart.

Interested in more Japanese Baseball, the band? The EP the band released in June, digital, consists of 5 tracks including MEMENTO and yugure. The EP can be found on the big streaming services, such as Spotify and Apple Music. Follow the band on Instagram. What about that show they announced? It will take place on December 23rd in Shinjuku Marz. Nowords about a livestream or anything like that, so it will have to mean that we, people outside Japan, will have to wait to find out more about this intriguing band.
