If you are still looking for a way to celebrate Halloween with good music, you might want to check out Kaya’s Gothic Night on Saturday 31 October. The event will consist of a solo live show of the Visual Kei musician where he will perform the darkest songs of his solo project.

The Halloween show will start at 19.00 Japanese time and that is 10.00 in the morning in the United Kingdom and 11.00 in The Netherlands, just before lunchtime. A ticket for the show, that will be shown on Twitcasting, will cost 2500 yen. If you are unable to watch the show live, it is possible to watch the archive for 1 week after the show ended.

Kaya got his start in 2002 as the vocalist for Schwarz Stein, an electronic music unit produced by Mana of MALICE MIZER and Moi dix Mois fame. In 2006, he started his solo career and his 2008-single Chocolate marks his major debut. With songs that fuse dance music with artistic lyrics, Kaya has been intriguing many fans from all over the world. When the musician was in The Netherlands for a performance, in August 2013, AVO Magazine had the chance to talk with Kaya about Europe, his career and more. Kaya is known for his androgynous appearance and elegant dresses.

After releasing a cover album, titled DRESS in 2019, Kaya released the digital single for the song 般若 (Hannya), a song that was originally released in 2007 on Kaya’s concept mini-album 百鬼夜行 (Hyakki Yagyou). The new version has been rearranged by Kazutoshi Yokoyama, who is a manipulator for Visual Kei bands BUCK-TICK and Angelo.

Since the pandemic, the vocalist has been busy with releasing cover songs on his YouTube channel, from ROUAGE, Malice Mizer to Melty love from SHAZNA and even musicals like Elisabeth. They are not just simply covers, because Kaya puts a lot of effort in the aesthetics of the music videos as well.
