The Post-Rock/Post-Metal band Presence of Soul will return to Europe in February for a tour in collaboration with the tour organisation Monochromeheit. In total, there are 8 European shows planned. Presence of Soul will perform for the first time in Germany, The Netherlands and Spain. At some of the shows, they will be supported by European bands Shipwrecks, Toekan and BLAK.
Started as a solo project by female vocalist and composer Yuki in 2001, it became a band in 2005. Yuki handles guitar and keyboard and from the start was accompanied by two guitar players, bass player and a drummer. The band connected with a French label and Taiwanese label, released a couple of albums, went to tour through France and Belgium, Australia and China. In the meantime, the band changed the line-up a bit. The last time Presence of Soul was in Europe was in 2017, for their France tour. After that, it became a bit silent surrounding the band, although in 2018 invited French Funeral Doom band MONOLITHE to Japan and held an event for them in Tokyo. The band became a duo consisting of two founding members, Yuki en guitarist Yoshi.
In 2019, they released their fourth album, Absence of Objective World, and worked together with various artists, such as ROSETTA’s vocalist Eric Jernigan, Funeral Moth vocalist Ryo Amamiya and ex-envy drummer Dairoku Seki. The album deals with the perspective of ‘Umwelt’, where among all human emotions and values, the world is a collection of all of their ‘subjective reality’.
For the song Probability of Destruction and Hope, the band released a music video that was made in collaboration with Philippe Léonard, member of Canadian experimental music collective Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
