A new documentary series about the life of YOSHIKI is slated to premiere in March 2020, it will be part of YouTube Originals. The documentary was announced on Wednesday, 13 November, where YOSHIKI appeared as the surprise guest at YouTube’s Brandcast Japan 2019, hosted by Google at Ryogoku Kokugikan. The title of the series will be YOSHIKI -Life of a Japanese Rock Star-.
The six-episode series marks the first documentary program from a Japanese artist to be featured on YouTube Originals. YOSHIKI was hand-picked by YouTube Originals as part of a select group of internationally-renowned artists such as Paul McCartney, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, BTS, Robert Downey Jr., Will Smith, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, Mark Ronson, Dwayne Johnson, and Taylor Swift.
The documentary will follow YOSHIKI’s many facets as a composer, drummer or a rock band, classical pianist, and fashion designer and approaches the challenging behind-the-scenes reality of when music and passion intersect. It will offer a glimpse into the life of an artist who is active on the global stage. The documentary can be watched on the YouTube channel of YOSHIKI.
It isn’t the first time that YOSHIKI is put in a documentary. In 2016, the documentary film We Are X got released, where the focus was on X JAPAN and YOSHIKI.
