Dj, musician and vocalist Sapphire Slows will tour Europe in April, with shows in The Netherlands, France, Germany and more. Her music is a combination of synth-pop, triphop and new age.
The European tour will start at Minimal Music Festival in Amsterdam, where Sapphire Slows will perform a live set from 20.30 till midnight at Muziekgebouw during the event Dreaming the Dreamhouse. During that evening there will be more performances, such as Kate NV from Russia, who combines Japanese new wave with electronics, Garland, a performance of the mbira players of the Zonke Family, they will perform for the first time in The Netherlands. Rabih Beaini concludes the special event at the festival with a DJ set.
Sapphire Slows, the artist name of Kinuko Hiramatsu, is what you might call an everything-ist: she produces, DJs, plays synth and keyboard, and her eerie, drone-like vocals float over her tracks, embellishing their shadowy textures. After the brutal awakening of the 2011 earthquakes in Japan, she became motivated to pursue a career in music. Now a notable name in Tokyo’s electronic underground music scene, she has toured North America, Europe, China and her home country, and released on labels such as Japan’s Big Love and Los Angeles’ Not Not Fun/100% Silk. Her latest release was a mini-album, titled Time, in 2017.
In June 2018, a video, that was part of the MAKING IT series by Shure in collaboration with Mixcloud, got released about the journey of Sapphire Slows with a motivational talk from the musician herself.
