On October 14th Kaoru Yamamoto opened her own solo exhibition in her own KYAS ART SALON in Amsterdam in the middle of 100 guests. The exhibition, titled Lovers 100, consists of 100 artworks taken from a video project. The pieces are clips that are in motion thanks to lenticular printing. The best way to see the dynamics are when you walk by the wall pieces.

Impression

The works are all the more attractive thanks to the subject – love – and the colourful display. Especially in the space of KYAS ART SALON, the creations splash off the wall thanks to the happy colours used in the video. The colour pink is, in various tones, the most dominant, but very appealing.

The 100 works are from a video project, where Kaoru Yamamoto also had a part in, which lasts 5 minutes. To have 100 wall pieces of this size, the video resolution had to be increased and the video had to be rendered again. For example, Kaoru Yamamoto could also show the video on a screen, but then the effect that it now has – with the 100 artworks – cannot be transmitted. That is why the artist made a good choice to make 100 lenticular prints.

Advice

For most artworks, it is advisable to visit it by yourself so you can admire the details, and it certainly applies to the works of Lovers 100, so you can see the development of the video project in the various wall pieces.

Lenticular printing

Lenticular printing is a technology in which lenticular lenses (a technology that is also used for 3D displays) are used to produce printed images with an illusion of depth, or the ability to change or move as the image is viewed from different angles. The effect is created by looking at the print through a fine grid, which is applied as a ribbed transparent layer above the images.

If you want to visit KYAS ART SALON, you have to make an appointment. It is possible to buy the artworks.
