I recently purchased these Puku Puku Tai chocolate filled wafers, shaped like Taiyaki. There’s only two versions of these available at the moment, strawberry and chocolate.
Meito – Puku Puku Tai Chocolate
Price: ± €2,-
Ingredients: Lactose, Cocoa butter, Sugar, Palm Oil, Skim Milk, Flavour, Lecithin, Citric acid, Wheat Flour, Starch, Shell Calcium, Baking Powder, Flavour. Contains: Soy.
The vanilla wafer outside of this snack is crunchy and has a pretty neutral flavour to it. The chocolate inside is definitely the most present flavour and very tasty.
Meito – Puku Puku Tai Strawberry
Price: ± €2,-
Ingredients: Lactose, Cocoa butter, Sugar, Palm Oil, Skim Milk, Dried Strawberry, Red Beat Colour, Flavour, Lecithin, Citric acid, Wheat Flour, Starch, Shell Calcium, Baking Powder, Flavour. Contains: Soy.
The wafer exterior doesn’t seem to have a strawberry flavour, just as in the other version it is neutral and crunchy. The bubbly chocolate inside of it has a hint of strawberry flavour, but mainly tasted like white chocolate to me.
Both versions were tasty, though I have to say the chocolate one was by far my favourite because of the stronger chocolate flavour it has. These treats remind me of Bros chocolate, or Aero chocolate as it is known by anywhere but in the Netherlands. The chocolate inside really melts in your mouth.
