Eerste Europese show REMNANT in Wenen

REMNANT will be in the Netherlands in less than a week for a performance, this performance is part of their short European tour. For AVO Magazine, this is enough reason to have a talk with the guitarist of the band, Takmi.

AVO: Can you tell us something about the band and the band members?
Takmi: Hello. I’m Takmi and I’m the guitarist and composer of REMNANT, mostly active in Japan. REMNANT consists of 3 people, Marie (Vocal and Lyrics), Rober (Synth and Noise) and myself on guitar. Unfortunately, Rober can’t join this Europe tour.

AVO: Why did you start the band? How did you start the band? How did you met each other?
Takmi: I thought it was a challenge to express a dark view on the world throughout the music and that’s where REMNANT began.

I started the band together with Marie. Later I got to know Rober throughout an introduction by Marie and he joined the band. This year REMNANT will exist for 6 years with the three of us as active members.

AVO: Why have you chosen for the name REMNANT? Does it have a special meaning?
Takmi: The word called REMNANT has various meanings. That means [the person for whom it was left] for us.

AVO: What are your biggest inspiration for the visual look and music of REMNANT?
Takmi: The biggest inspiration for the visual look of REMNANT would be the 80s New Wave style. I’m strongly influenced by this style, the same goes for Gothic Rock and Positive Punk. These three styles are our biggest inspirations.

Apart from these styles we also got a bit influenced by Industrial, Dark Electro and French pop music. And about our looks: I’m strongly influenced by a worldview. Personally, I got affected by Oldschool Visual-Rock.

AVO: What do you like to do the most: Making new music or perform on stage? And why?
Takmi: The most important thing for us is to make ideal music that suits us. The show performance around our music performance is one of the ways how we can express our music visually.

AVO: What are your ambitions with REMNANT? Do you want to become famous and tour around the world or something else?
Takmi: So far our ambition is to start to become more famous around the whole world. So this tour in Europe isn’t special. I think the shows in Europe are equal to the shows we have in Japan. When a country has an offer for us to play we want to go. So every country is considered. It’s important for us to become more famous, but of course it’s also very important to make our fans happy!

AVO: What do you expect from the European short tour? What do you hope?
Takmi: I’ll give a present in return to everyone who supported REMNANT up to now throughout this tour. My present is that we will give a great show! And for the people that listen to REMNANT’s music for the first time, I hope you will enjoy it!

AVO: You will start the tour in the Netherlands. What do you know about the Netherlands?
Takmi: When I think of the Netherlands I think of windmills.
I once went to a theme park called HUIS TEN BOSCH in Nagasaki in Japan, I really enjoyed it and I hope I will be able to see the real thing when I’m in the Netherlands.

AVO: Do you want to say something to the people who want to come to the show in the Netherlands?
Takmi: I’m very thankful to everyone who plans to go to the show in the Netherlands and I want to thank the people who helped me. It’s very important when everyone comes to the concert that we will make a great show!

I’ll spend a nice dark night with everyone on 23 April!

I want to thank Takmi for his time to answer the questions for AVO Magazine. Keep an eye on the official website of REMNANT, and also Facebook, to keep up-to-date with the goth unit.

This is a digital painting of the avatar of Vocaloid producer and songwriter Kikuo with colourful and flowing long hair and two red horns. The painting shows Kikuo in a movement where he moves his arms, making it look that he has several arms. The avatar seems to be mysterious with a quiet but expressive look.
