SABBAT viert 40-jarig bestaan met Europese zomertournee

Om het 40-jarig bestaan van SABBAT te vieren, begint de Japanse black/thrash metalband binnenkort aan een Europese tournee, waarbij ze als speciale gast versterking krijgen van de Amerikaanse Death Metal all-star band GRUESOME. De tour, georganiseerd door Dragon Productions, bestaat uit 19 shows, waaronder optredens op verschillende festivals, zoals Pitfest, Obscene Extreme Festival en Metal Magic Festival. Naast de Europese tour zal de band in oktober ook Mexico en Zuid-Amerika aandoen.

Opgericht in 1984 door vocalist en bassist Gezol, momenteel het enige originele lid van SABBAT, hebben ze een belangrijke rol gespeeld in de ontwikkeling van de Japanse metalscene. De metalband staat bekend om hun rauwe, agressieve geluid en presenteert een mix van black en thrash metal, met elementen van heavy metal en old-school death metal, die vaak wordt bestempeld als blacking metal.

Ze hebben door de jaren heen muziek uitgebracht via verschillende labels, waaronder Heavy Metal Super Star Records, Iron Pegasus Records en via hun eigen label Evil Records. Hun discografie bevat meer dan 220 officiële releases. Hun nieuwste studioalbum, SABBATICULT, komt uit aan het begin van hun Europese tournee. Bovendien zullen SABBAT en GRUESOME op dezelfde datum een gelimiteerde 7″ split in beperkte oplage uitbrengen.
