It has been almost two years since I last photographed a Re:O gig, and with a new look and sound, the Japan\/UK band’s journey continues and they are definitely going in the right direction. The event at The Water Rats was a Halloween special event, filled with a sea of fantastic fancy dress costumes. Re:O hit the stage fast with a new impactful sound that has certainly garnered a lot of attention and new fans\u2014deservedly so.<\/p>\n

With this heavier direction, the band seems to have truly found their place. Lead singer Rio is now fully unleashed, commanding the stage with her solid growl work and undeniable presence.\u00a0It reminded me of other female frontwomen who hold their audience in the palm of their hand. From running into the crowd mid-song to orchestrating phone-light moments and even getting the audience to take a seat, her energy was reminiscent of other iconic female vocalists who captivate their fans with ease. The United Kingdom may just have its very own SU-METAL in the making.<\/p>\n

And to top of the new look and style, Rio started a circle pit, fell over and did not miss a beat for the song, finishing the show like a true professional with what turns out to be a broken elbow.<\/p>\n

The new band lineup really brought Re:O to their final form. They operate as a cohesive unit while showcasing their own unique styles in the music. They also know how to engage with the camera (always appreciated for us photographers) and make a strong impact on both the stage and the audience.<\/p>\n

Overall, the return of Re:O, now as a band, has being going from strength to strength. There is no doubt that they are only growing stronger as they continue to make their mark.<\/p>\n
