The newest exhibition that can be visited at Amsterdam-based Nihon no hanga will show the series Japanese vocations of the Sh\u014dwa era in pictures<\/em>\u00a0by Wada Sanzo (1883-1967) and illustrates all three volumes (72 woodblock prints). This exhibition is titled Memories of Sh\u014dwa: Impressions of Working Life by Wada Sanzo<\/em>.<\/p>\n

From the series\u2019 inception in 1938, Wada collaborated with print enthusiast and publisher Shinagawa Kiyoomi to create nostalgic and modern images of everyday life in Japan during the late 1930s through to the early 1950s. As the prints were accompanied by Wada\u2019s personal observations, Memories of Showa<\/em> provides a deeply personal account of the continuously changing professions set against the backdrop of a complex era of modern Japanese history.<\/p>\n
