{"id":41015,"date":"2020-01-01T23:07:18","date_gmt":"2020-01-01T22:07:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/avo-magazine.nl\/?p=41015"},"modified":"2020-01-01T23:07:18","modified_gmt":"2020-01-01T22:07:18","slug":"philo-ouweleen-to-present-solo-exhibition-at-vox-pop-stories-from-kameoka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/avo-magazine.com\/en\/2020\/01\/philo-ouweleen-to-present-solo-exhibition-at-vox-pop-stories-from-kameoka\/","title":{"rendered":"Philo Ouweleen to present solo exhibition at VOX-POP: Stories from Kameoka"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From 9 January till 20 February, Japanologist Philo Ouweleen will have her solo exhibition at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voxpop.uva.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">VOX-POP<\/a> in Amsterdam, where she will present her paintings she made during her stay in the small Japanese city Kameoka.<!--more--> The exhibition can be seen as an ode to the normal everyday life in a small Japanese city and a reflection on the beauty of the (extra)ordinary.<\/p>\n<p>During the period of the solo exhibition, there will be special evenings, including a festive opening of the exhibition, a Pecha Kucha and a film screening. The exhibition is open from Monday to Thursday between 10.00 and 17.00. Entrance is free.<\/p>\n<p>Philo Ouweleen is a Japanologist who captures her fascination with Japan in research, writing and paintings. The project <em>Stories from Kameoka<\/em> originated during an artist in residency programme in January and February 2019 in Kameoka, a small Japanese city with the mountains always in sight and 30 minutes away from well-known neighbouring city Kyoto.
