Since her 2007 launch in Japan, Hatsune Miku became the ultimate pop star, a globally adored and collaboratively constructed cyber celebrity with a growing user community, countless stadium performances as a 3D hologram projection and more than 100.000 songs released worldwide. After the debut of ‘Still be Here’ last year at CTM festival, it is now coming to TodaysArt 2017 for its Dutch première.

Following an idea initiated and conceptualised by artist Mari Matsutoya, Still Be Here is collectively created with music producer Laurel Halo, award-winning choreographer and visual artist Darren Johnston/Array, virtual artist LaTurbo Avedon and produced by digital artist Martin Sulzer. This special performance is authorised by Crypton Future Media, however, it is not an official Hatsune Miku show.

The show will take place on both days of TodaysArt at Theater aan het Spui, it will start on 22.30. Takeshi Ikeda draws inspiration from experimental music and hardcore punk rock. Ikeda finds the two genres very structured and monotonous, boring even. He actually calls them “Boredom Music”. The artist explores new ways of making ‘boring’ compositions since he considers it a significant quality of music, and life. For the recorded performance Fuck Everything (2017), the artist started off with the idea that “the music is too boring to concentrate on and the music seems individualistic and distant”.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzSIpSeKMlA

At TodaysArt you can also see the video ‘666 or more malignant songs which should be forgotten immediately after they’re played’, a hilarious take on hardcore punk music, which revolves around the sound of biting into tomatoes.

Tickets

If you want to visit TodaysArt for the whole day, you can buy a Day Pass for Friday or Saturday for € 35.00, a Festival Pass will cost you € 60.00.
