Recently I purchased six Japanese KitKat flavours that I\u2019ve been wanting to try for a little while. There are more flavours available, but I bought: Ginger Tea, Matcha, Custard Pudding, Butter Cookie, Strawberry and Sake.<\/p>\n
Nestl\u00e9 – KitKat Ginger Tea This KitKat does taste like ginger, but it isn\u2019t a very dominant flavour. It\u2019s more of a hint of ginger, which doesn\u2019t overpower the chocolate at all. It\u2019s recognizable as the flavour it was intended to be, but as someone who isn\u2019t a big fan of things that have a lot of ginger in them this was definitely still very tasty and enjoyable to eat.<\/p>\n Nestl\u00e9 – KitKat Matcha<\/strong> If it hadn\u2019t been for the green colour and the packaging I might not have realize this KitKat was supposed to be Matcha flavoured. It has a very faint tea flavour to it, but it\u2019s not something I\u2019d easily recognize as Matcha tea specifically. I\u2019m sure plenty of people would love to taste this KitKat, but it wasn\u2019t my favourite.<\/p>\n Nestl\u00e9 – KitKat Custard Pudding (Easter)<\/strong> Yum! These were definitely delicious and anyone I shared one with agreed. Initially when you open the wrapper you smell the caramel you\u2019d usually see on top of a custard pudding, but as you bite into it you taste the pudding. The caramel flavour returns at the end again, lingering in your mouth for a little while after you\u2019ve finished eating it.<\/p>\n Aside from the flavour these also had the cutest design. In my package there were nine designs present in total, including the \u2018Lucky Easter\u2019 design. All of the designs were super cute, as were the designs on the wrappers.<\/p>\n Nestl\u00e9 – KitKat Butter Cookie<\/strong> As the packaging and instructions imply: these KitKats can and should be baked before consuming. Trust me: I tried them without baking them first and the flavour wasn\u2019t great. This can be a bit tricky to do as you have to find out what works best with your oven. Make sure not to preheat your oven and to place them on a baking tray lined with aluminium foil. For me the best way turned out to be to bake them for 8 to 9 minutes, setting my oven at 200 degrees Celsius. After which I took out the tray, let them cool and then took them off the aluminium foil to try them.<\/p>\n The flavour, once baked, is very nice. They actually taste like a butter cookie and it has a little bit of an aftertaste of white chocolate to it. This KitKat is a bit on the sweeter side, as some of the sugar gets caramelized in the oven.<\/p>\n Nestl\u00e9 – KitKat Strawberry<\/strong> I usually love everything strawberry flavoured and I loved these too! I was expecting a sweet strawberry flavour, but was pleasantly surprised by the slightly sour strawberry flavour of this KitKat. So try not to expect a KitKat that has the super artificial sweet strawberry flavour.<\/p>\n Nestl\u00e9 – KitKat Sake<\/strong> When you open the wrapper you smell the alcohol immediately and that\u2019s also what this tasted like to me: alcohol. I have to admit I was curious about this one, but as I don\u2019t drink any alcohol myself I didn\u2019t enjoy the flavour since this one does really taste alcoholic. For reference I had someone who actually likes sake try this flavour and they confirmed it does taste like sake. So, if you like sake: definitely try this one out!<\/p>\n All of these flavours were definitely worth trying, because they are so different from KitKats you buy in stores here.
