You can create anything you’d like, but there’s also a mould in the package to create shapes more easily. I made a few shapes, but I had quite a bit of ‘clay’ left, which I didn’t use. This ‘clay’ I just ate, but you could just make more. In total this kit kept me busy for about half an hour.

The kit is as easy or hard as you want to make it, because you can create either simple or complicated characters depending on what you want. The personal touch makes it fun. The ‘clay’ is a bit sticky so that can work against you a bit.

The final product looks cute, as long as you shape the candies well. Unfortunately they didn’t resemble the candies on the packaging very well, because you do have to have a good skill level when it comes to claying. Aside from that you’d need extra tools, like fondant modelling tools. You can decide what you make and which colours you use. As long as those colours are a combination of pink, blue, yellow, white and black.

The different colours of clay all taste pretty much the same. The white one had a bit of a chewing gum flavour and aside from that all of them had a bit of a lemon flavour. Some didn’t have much flavour to them, but they were all definitely sweet.

The coloured sprinkles that are in this kit can be used to decorate the characters and shapes, these taste like sugar.

TIP: Make sure to wash and dry your hands well before you start, to prevent leaving dust in the candies.

Want to enjoy this kit again?

Clean the mould with warm water, after using it, and let it air dry. Don’t use soap when cleaning this mould.

If you want to reuse the mould you could shape a little piece of fondant or marzipan in it. You could also buy chewing candy, like starbursts, soften these a little by putting them in the microwave for a short period of time, and then knead these and press them into the mould. This way you can make candies, but also decorations for on a cake or something like that.

These chewing candies, fondant or marzipan you could also ‘clay’ with and shape.

Recently I purchased a few Japanese Candy kits and I will review all of these for AVO.
